Engineering Your Tomorrow 2026

This year's event brought nearly 100 middle school girls together to explore how STEM is used to solve real problems in the world around us. Through three hands-on activities led by STEM professionals, girls stepped into roles as engineers, coders, and scientists — building skills, confidence, and a taste of what a future in STEM could look like.

The challenge was to design "smart" cities to manage stormwater and pollution run off into local waterways. Girls designed, built and tested their cities under the guidance of our STEM professionals, near-peer mentors, college students from the University of Delaware, and Miss Delaware, Hailey Mack, a civil engineering student.

Career Fair

Girls and their adult caregivers had the opportunity to explore different careers and talk to STEM professionals during lunch. The girls (and adults) especially loved the flight simulator provided by the Delaware Foundation of Science and Mathematics Education.

Afternoon Activities

Girls discovered the world of conductive inks and coding during our afternoon activities while parents and guardians engaged with career panels and did a STEM activity of their own. We wrapped up the day with our awards ceremony.
